Ref: Dissertation Letter of Financial Assistance
Dear Friends in Christ,
I am grateful to share with you this God given opportunity. My name is Jacob Aguer Ajang, South Sudanese by nationality and a citizen of the United States. I come from uneducated family background and am one of the 3,000 Lost Boys who have been resettled here in the United States as a refugee because of the 22 years of civil war between the South and North Sudan which ended in 2005. I have lived in Omaha, Nebraska for the past 13 years. I am pursuing a PhD in higher education leadership at Trident University International in Cypress, California. I have just received approval of my Dissertation topic (The Impacts of Quality Teaching on Sudent Learning at the University of Juba) from the Trident University International Dissertation Committee.
I perceive that South Sudan, being the latest country to achieve it independence makes education unobtainable for the masses. Due to this circumstance, I surmised there is a critical need to conduct research in this field to develop some insights as well as focus on the challenges facing South Sudans’ higher education system. I am privileged to have come to the United States, a land that one can utilize his/her ability to become something that would help better the community.
The reason why I am writing this letter is to request for your financial assistance as I will be traveling to South Sudan for dissertation data collection in January 2015. The data collection will probably last from 2 to 3 months. In this regard, the expenses of my trip to South Sudan include a round trip travel from US to Nairobi and Juba. The project cost expenses amount approximately $3,125.00.
The purpose and intended outcome of my travel and research will improve the:
1. Abilities of South Sudanese families to send their children to schools;
2. Education curriculum for students to receive higher education;
3. Certification processes for teachers in the universities.
After I landed on American soil, I thought my dreams were fulfilled to live in a country where there is a good system to access quality higher education. Since I came to United States, I have returned to SS multiple times. I toured five public higher institutions and found they are facing challenges in policy directions aimed at improving the efficiency of quality education. I saw an opportunity to utilize the quality education I have been afforded here in America to increase and sustain that same quality in my homeland.
Also, I have a family that will also need my financial support and I will personally provide for their financial assistance. Your financial support will aid covering the below detailed expenses:
1. South Sudan Trip Cost Expenses Estimated
• Trip cost expenses in US to Nairobi $1, 300.00
