Financial Assistance

Ref: Dissertation Letter of Financial Assistance

Dear Friends in Christ,

I am grateful to share with you this God given opportunity. My name is Jacob Aguer Ajang, South Sudanese by nationality and a citizen of the United States. I come from uneducated family background and am one of the 3,000 Lost Boys who have been resettled here in the United States as a refugee because of the 22 years of civil war between the South and North Sudan which ended in 2005. I have lived in Omaha, Nebraska for the past 13 years. I am pursuing a PhD in higher education leadership at Trident University International in Cypress, California. I have just received approval of my Dissertation topic (The Impacts of Quality Teaching on Sudent Learning at the University of Juba) from the Trident University International Dissertation Committee.

I perceive that South Sudan, being the latest country to achieve it independence makes education unobtainable for the masses. Due to this circumstance, I surmised there is a critical need to conduct research in this field to develop some insights as well as focus on the challenges facing South Sudans’ higher education system. I am privileged to have come to the United States, a land that one can utilize his/her ability to become something that would help better the community.

The reason why I am writing this letter is to request for your financial assistance as I will be traveling to South Sudan for dissertation data collection in January 2015. The data collection will probably last from 2 to 3 months. In this regard, the expenses of my trip to South Sudan include a round trip travel from US to Nairobi and Juba. The project cost expenses amount approximately $3,125.00.

The purpose and intended outcome of my travel and research will improve the:

1. Abilities of South Sudanese families to send their children to schools;
2. Education curriculum for students to receive higher education;
3. Certification processes for teachers in the universities.

After I landed on American soil, I thought my dreams were fulfilled to live in a country where there is a good system to access quality higher education. Since I came to United States, I have returned to SS multiple times. I toured five public higher institutions and found they are facing challenges in policy directions aimed at improving the efficiency of quality education. I saw an opportunity to utilize the quality education I have been afforded here in America to increase and sustain that same quality in my homeland.

Also, I have a family that will also need my financial support and I will personally provide for their financial assistance. Your financial support will aid covering the below detailed expenses:

1. South Sudan Trip Cost Expenses Estimated

• Trip cost expenses in US to Nairobi $1, 300.00
• Yellow Fever Vaccine $165.00

2. University of Juba
• Food $20 per a day x 21= $220.00
• Lodging 30 per a night x 21=$630.00
• Ticket Cost $300 two trips x 2= $600.00

Items Amount in US Dollars
US Around Trip Total Cost Expenses $1,465.00
Nairobi Round Trip to Juba Total Cost $600.00
Cost Expenses in Juba $850.00
 Nairobi expenses food and hotel $210.00
Total Dissertation Trip Cost Expenses Estimated $3,125.00

Based on the chart above, I believe it is important to share this cost estimate with you. This trip serves to greatly enhance the higher education quality learning in South Sudan. If your contribution budget allows, I would be most grateful for any donation ($5, $10 or $20) to assist my native country, friends and family that I have left behind many years ago, and most especially the youth who will benefit from your generosity. Please pray for God’s leading in this matter and thank you in advance for your support. Additional details regarding this project and donations would be obtained by visiting: Aguer’s Facebook page or Jacob Aguer Ajan’s linkedin

Sincerely

      Thank you so much Peter Nyiany for acknowledging my commitment and obligation. I am so proud to be born and raised in this loving community called Bor. Our people are so thoughtful and prideful for one another’s achievements. I am appreciative for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit my Site and of course, provided considerable compliment. Our community is big but it is easy to interact and get to know one another’s responsibility. I do appreciate your time and effort. I would willingly welcome your financial support.

      In this regard, I will be traveling to South Sudan in the first week of March. Therefore, I will purchase the airplane ticket in the last week of January once I have gathered financial support from who is willing to assist me. My dissertation data collection will take 3-4 months in South Sudan visiting the 5 public universities. I am in the process of contacting the Ministry of Higher Education to obtain a letter of data collection acceptance. This will ensure my right in attempt to collect data by visiting each university site campus and conduct interviews.

      I will keep you informed and be in touch with you since I have your online social contact. I also want to praise you for your involvements in our communities’ Social Organizations. Your participation in our community event is treasured.
